On Saturday, February 18th at 7:30 p.m., Saranac Village at Will Rogers and Lazar Bear Productions will present An Evening with Cabinet featuring a mix of bluegrass and Americana. Known for soul, simplicity and serious musicianship, they will weave bluegrass, country and folk influences to form music that has roots in the past but is known for being current and vibrant.
Cabinet formed in 2006, bringing together players from various musical and personal backgrounds. The group features Pappy Biondo (banjo, vocals), J.P. Biondo (mandolin, vocals), Mickey Coviello (acoustic guitar, vocals), Dylan Skursky (electric bass, double bass), Todd Kopec (fiddle, vocals) and Jami Noak (drums, percussion), all of whom love and live music.

The Alzheimer’s Disease Assistance Center (ADAC) will host a support group at Saranac Village at Will Rogers on the 4th Thursday of each month at 6:00 p.m. beginning on June 23rd. This group provides a confidential venue for discussing the challenges associated with being a caregiver and provides support and education concerning the diagnosis and its impact upon family structure and relationships.
The ADAC offers an array of programs and services to support and assist individuals with Alzheimer’s disease or related disorders, as well as their families. They provide comprehensive diagnostic assessment, education and support for care giving families. The ADAC provides support groups in six different locations in the North Country.
The Saranac Lake Support Group is lead by Samantha Marocco, a Physical Therapist with advanced degrees in Gerontology and Geriatrics. She is a full-time faculty member at Utica College in the Post-Professional Transitional Doctor of Physical Therapy Program. Samantha also works per diem for Adirondack Medical Center as an inpatient therapist. Her academic interest and research interest is in memory/dementia and motor learning. She has authored a home study course for physical therapists on Alzheimer’s disease titled Implications for Physical Therapists through the Geriatric Section of the American Physical Therapy Association.
Saranac Village at Will Rogers is an independent retirement community providing services such as three meals a day, weekly laundry and housekeeping, activities, transportation, twenty-four hour staff, an emergency response system and more for those ages 55 or older.

On Sunday, February 26th at 2:00 p.m., the Adirondack Museum will present a Soulful Landscape Concert at Saranac Village at Will Rogers as part of their Cabin Fever Sunday Series. Featuring singer and songwriter Erica Wheeler, this concert is celebrated on the belief that we all have stories of place and belonging waiting to be remembered and revealed.
According to the Adirondack Museum, “Erica Wheelers’ concerts convey the vivid imagery and meaning of place in her life, evoking in listeners their own memories of special places. Inspiring and thought-provoking, the concert uses song, story and humor to take the audience on a transformational journey. Listeners leave with a renewed connection to self and an understanding of how profoundly place affects our lives.”
This program is free to members and children. $5 for non-members. Refreshments will be served. This program is sponsored by the Glenn and Carol Pearsall Adirondack Foundation dedicated to improving the quality of life for year-round residents in the Adirondack Park. The Will Rogers Senior Outing Club’s February event will be snowshoeing at Dewey Mountain on February 28th from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. Beginners are welcome and hot chocolate and cookies will be offered. This program is free and open to the public. Snowshoes will be provided. Please dress warmly.
